Coming to the facts of the Tunnel:

  1. This is the longest tunnel in the world that stretches around 9.02 KM.
  2. There will be no problems of Weather or Landslide or ice formation on the road when you drive or ride from Manali to lahaul & Spiti.
  3. Before Atal Tunnel due to snowfall, most of the valley was cut-off for 6 months in winters.
  4. The Tunnel is built on the altitude of 3000 meters or 10, 000 Feet from Sea Level.
  5. The tunnel is built with modern technology & 25 Km away from Manali that comes at an altitude of 3060 Meters.
  6. The North Portal of the Tunnel is near village Teiling which is at an altitude of 3071 meters where Atal Tunnel ends.

7. If you look at the map the Atal Tunnel is designed in the shape of Horse Shoe.

  • It’s wide in around 10.5 meters and it’s fully emergency proof with many fire management services.
  • This tunnel can handle around 3000 cars per day or 1,500 trucks per day..
  • Cars can go upto 80KMPH in this tunnel.
